Info
- As we always do, the West Langley Elementary community will be supporting three families through the Langley Christmas Bureau this year. We have already had numerous donations arrive, and I am honoured to work in such a generous community. If you are contemplating donating to one or more of those families, please check with Mrs. Swerdan regarding what has already been purchased to avoid duplication. For full information, click here.
- Thank you to the crew of parent volunteers who are helping Monday with setting up the stage. If you are available and willing to help, we'll start right after classes start on Monday. We will be calling for helpers, too, to take it back down on Friday morning at the same 8:40 hour.
- Thursday is our Christmas program in the gym. Showtimes will be 1:00 and 6:30, with doors opening 30 minutes before showtimes. There will be no reserved seating at the shows, with the exception of front row seats held for the families of top fundraisers in the Entertainment Book fundraiser back in October. We ask that you attend the afternoon show if you are able, as seating in the evening is always very limited.
- There will be double bake sales associated with the program this year - the WE Day students are offering home-baked loaves and batches of goodies on your way OUT of each concert. In addidion, they will be offering home-baked single-servings while you wait for the evening show; don't eat dessert before you come! FInally, Rafiki bracelets will be available for sale at the concert, with proceeds supporting the Adopt a Village program through Free the Children. The added bonus of purchasing Rafiki bracelets is that the purchase doesn't just support the adpoted villages, but the Kenyan artisans who hand-string the bracelets, too. The Rafikis will also be avaialble for purchase or order outside the office over the coming weeks, as well.
- In the interest of long-term planning, please note that we are expecting January 15 to be a day not in session for students as teachers continue their work on implementing the upcoming new BC Curriculum.
- Thanks to all of you who made purchases at last week's Scholastic Book Fair. Thanks to your support, the library will have about $1800 in credits to spend at Scholastic on new materials for students to enjoy!
- The Grade 7 class are holding raffles for 10 excellent packages of goodies. The packages are on display in the case outside the gym. Check them out when you come for the show on Thursday. Tickets are $5 and proceeds support the grade 7 Camp experience coming in June. There are some most excellent prizes going on there! We want to thank the generous sponsors who have supported us in building the prizes, and the parents who have worked so hard to organize the raffle. Tickets are available from any grade 7 student.
