Information to share
- A new Vice Principal, Ms. Michelle Wood, will be coming to WGSS on February 24, replacing Ms. Murdoch who is retiring. We wish Ms. Murdoch all the best and welcome Ms. Wood to the Walnut Grove family.
- The District's Long Term Facilities Plan process continues with a Public Consultation Meeting planned for the evening of February 10th. Info can be found here.

Interesting Reading
- There was lots of talk online about the Bell Let's Talk campaign raising awareness and money for mental health issues. This article jumped out at me.
- I don't know about you, but my kids sometimes complain about being bored. I'm glad to know it's good for them to feel that way. This article from Michele Borba talks about helping kids cope with boredom and how they benefit from it, and apart from the Love Boat reference I can barely remember, the article gave me some new things to ponder.

The Long View
- Next Monday is the Family Day Holiday. We'll all be doing stuff with our families, and the school will be closed. :)
- Parent Teacher Interviews (or student-led conferences) are next week. Info is coming by end Tuesday.
- February 20th is the district Pro-D Day; schools will not be in session.
- Jump Rope for Heart is coming to WLE. Our kickoff assembly will be Feb 10th, and the big event is Feb 19th.
- Representatives from WGSS will be visiting over the next few weeks to work with our grade 7 students on planning for the adventures that are grade 8 and high school!
- During the week of February 23, Cath Blythe, of Saleema Noon Sexual Health Educators will be providing sessions for students and parents on sexual health. These sessions are fantastic. Please take a moment to read this letter providing details about the program. The Parent Session on February 23 will be excellent, I promise. :)
